The black interface PCB also has an inductor and several ceramic capacitors for further power filtering. The USB 3.0 microB socket can be seen mounted to the left. Three solid SMD electrolytic capacitors can be seen as part of the local power filtering on the board. The case is a fully tool-less design, with the drive slotting into place and the lid put on by sliding it along its rails.Ī look from the top shows the interface PCB screwed into the case for rigidity. Within the perspex, it seems the Orico logo is laser etched onto the top lid. It has relatively flat ends, so that it can stand. The case itself is clear all the way throughout, with no ribbing unlike its “clones”.

Inside the box, we find the enclosure in a milky-white translucent plastic bag, a USB cable also individually bagged, a “thank you” card and an instruction manual with Chinese on one side and English on the other.Įven within the milky-plastic bag which was unsealed, the case inside is protected with plastic film. When it comes to external enclosures, there’s really not much to brag about as the features are often quite similar – this one being no exception. It seems to advertise “global insurance”, although I’m not sure exactly why – you’d normally see this kind of advertising on a surge protector, not an external enclosure. The packaging design shows the enclosure up-front, on a white background with sky-blue colour accents for the various features and model numbers. The enclosure comes in a relatively slim and compact cardboard box, similar in size to what you might find an SSD in. These are transparent enclosures which the eBay listings frequently rip-off the images from, so I suppose it would be good to get my hands on the genuine units to see how they fared.
